Three mouth-watering games to look forward to

Updated: Dec 10, 2019

The festive period is well and truly underway. Teams are battling it out in what has been a competitive month so far; and it doesn't stop there. There is plenty of action to enjoy over the course of the next few weeks, and I've decided to pick three games you should be getting excited about.

Motherwell v

Rangers: Sunday 15th December, 12:00 kick-off:

Rangers travel to Fir Park to face Motherwell. It's Steven Gerrard's sides first domestic game since that cup final defeat to Celtic at Hampden on 8th December, so they will want to do everything they can to bounce back and focus on their league form once again.

Motherwell are flying high at the moment, especially after defeating Hearts 1-0 last weekend to extend their winning run to three matches. Stephen Robinson will have his young squad fired up for this encounter, though will remain underdogs.

Hearts v Hibernian: Thursday 26th December, 12:30 kick-off:

This may be a while away yet, but it has the makings of a classic. Both sides have underachieved so far this season and will be determined to set the record straight when they meet on Boxing Day.

It'll be the second Edinburgh derby of the season; Hearts clinching the win in the last one on enemy territory thanks to teenager Aaron Hickey's thunderous strike in the dying minutes of the game.

It will be the first Edinburgh derby for both Hibs manager Jack Ross and Hearts gaffer Daniel Stendel, so it's a game that could really go either way.

Celtic v Rangers: Sunday 29th December, 12.30 kick-off:

Celtic players celebrating after their League Cup triumph

You just can't beat a Glasgow derby, can you? The passion, the grit and the bragging rights are all what make it one of the best derbies in world football. Celtic are at home in this one and will surely be confident that they can seal all three points; especially given they defeated their fierce rivals 1-0 in the League Cup final at the beginning of December. The Hoops were far from their best yet still prevailed and showed their winners mentality to seal a tenth trophy in a row.

Win this one and, not only do they extend their lead at the top of the Premiership, but they have momentum going into the second-half of the season.
