Celtic have officially been crowned champions of the Scottish Premiership for the 2019/20 season after the SPFL concluded that the season is unable to be played to a finish.
The governing body's statement also confirmed that Heart of Midlothian would be relegated to the Scottish Championship; the Edinburgh side sat four points adrift at the bottom of the table.
The Hoops have proven on numerous occasions throughout this campaign that they were the best team in the country. After their bittery disappointing home defeat to Rangers in December, Neil Lennon's men regrouped over the winter break and returned fresh and determined to get back into form. They did just that, having gone on to win nine league games and drawing the other.
The majority of fans from the green and white side of Glasgow would've wanted to win nine-in-a-row by seeing out the season, but obviously current circumstances won't allow that to be feasible. Supporters of Scotland's best club couldn't contain their excitement after hearing the news.
BT Sport pundit and Celtic legend Chris Sutton certainly didn't waste any time sharing his thoughts on the news.
While Celtic were celebrating in Glasgow, there was a different feeling among fans in Scotland's capital. Hearts released a statement voicing their disapproval with the news, with Chairwoman Anne Budge stating that the club are considering taking legal action following the SPFL's decision.
The news has undoutedly sparked discussion across the country. Celtic fans beaming with delight; Hearts fans in mourning. Motherwell fans will be on cloud nine after securing third-place. St. Mirren and Hamilton Accies fans breathe a sigh of relief after surviving another season in the top-flight. It was extremely unlikely that anyone would overtake Celtic at the top, that's for sure.
